BMW is an abbreviation of Bayerische Motoren Werke (Bavarian motor works), a German manufacturer of quality automobiles and motorcycles. The BMW logo is comprised of a white propeller blade against a blue sky reflecting BMW’s early heritage as an aircraft engine manufacturer. The company was founded by Karl Friedrich Rapp in 1913.
