US Loans Ford $5.9 Billion for Zero Emission Cars

 

Energy Secretary Steven Chu started to hand out the $25 billion set aside for helping automakers meet the new fuel efficiency standards. Ford will receive $5.9 billion and Japanese automaker Nissan will be loaned $1.6 for investment in its US plants. The goal is to help companies meet or exceed the tough new fuel standards and to help eliminate dependence on foreign oil.
