Are Fuel Mandates Good For the US Auto Industry?
The Associated Press reports that US automakers have underestimated the importance of fuel efficiency to the consumer, but that new federal standards are expected to help the companies turn a profit. The requirement for cars to be 30% more efficient by 2016 is causing a greater focus on fuel efficiency in the design phase.
